Cooperstown in Winter

I love the chance to interact face-to-face with people, and seeing their reaction to our delicious baseball cookies. In addition to food shows and the Baseball Trade Show, I like to interact with people in Cooperstown, whether it’s the Baseball Hall of Fame Game, during the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Induction Weekend, or during one of Cooperstown’s festivals. While Cooperstown is hopping with baseball fans in the spring and summer, I’m invariably asked, “What do you do all winter?

A true winter highlight is coming up this weekend. The Cooperstown Winter Carnival will be held February 8-10. There are fun events for all ages, united with the theme of “Shiver Me Timbers!” The Cooperstown Cookie Company will be there, entering delicious treats in both the Chocolate Lovers’ Festival and the Cheesecake Tasting, which benefits the Double H Camp Hole in the Woods at Lake Luzerne.

The Cooperstown Concert Series brings great artists to Cooperstown during the fall and winter months, and other local organizations are busy offering events for us locals and our more hardy tourist friends. For example, Glimmerglass Opera, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Fenimore Art Museum sponsor a free Cabin Fever Film series every Friday in the winter. The more adventurous of you may want to try tubing at Glimmerglass State Park, just north of Cooperstown on East Lake Road.

And, if you visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in the winter months, you can enjoy crowd-free viewing of the treasures of baseball. While at the Baseball Hall of Fame, be sure to check out their excellent gift shop, which features Cooperstown Cookie Company baseball cookies, as well as the Baseball…Anyone Can Play gift line of t-shirts and mugs we created with the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Let me know your favorite memory of Cooperstown in winter.
